Richardson Pioneer Strasbourg is becoming a hero to their local curling club thanks to ADAMA Canada’s Thank-A-Retailer contest. Launched in November, the contest encouraged ADAMA customers to submit their favourite community-minded agricultural retailers for the chance to win $15,000 to donate to a local cause.

Richardson Pioneer Strasbourg donated their prize to the Strasbourg & Community Recreation Centre to assist with the replacement of their ice plant chillers. The chillers have outlived their life expectancy by a few years.

“If we do not replace the chillers soon, they could fail at any time, not only putting an end to activities for the rest of the season, but also causing damage to other associated equipment,” it says on Richardson Pioneer’s nomination. “Like most small towns, the rink is the main activity hub during the winter months.”

Richardson Pioneer Strasbourg was the winner for Saskatchewan, while Huron Perth Ag Service Inc. won for Eastern Canada, Bashaw Crop Services won for Alberta and British Columbia and Foster Ag Services won for Manitoba.

The winners were chosen based on a number of criteria, including the depiction of the nominated agri-retail’s passion for and contribution to their community, examples of actions and events that demonstrate their pride and spirit, description of how the prize money would impact the community, social media support, creativity and overall effort in the entry and, of course, the number of votes.

Richardson Pioneer Strasbourg received the highest number of votes of any nominee, achieving approximately 48,000 votes during the three-month contest. This works out to an average of 533 votes per day.

Employees in Strasbourg actively promoted the contest over the three months by telling customers and posting on their personal social media accounts. They also had other Richardson locations in the area spreading the word.

“I am proud of our employees for their dedication to promoting ourselves and the community,” says Morgan Grant, Location Manager, Richardson Pioneer Strasbourg. “I feel this contest has shown how well respected this company is within the community and has helped showcase Richardson Pioneer to a larger audience.”

The location was nominated by two loyal customers, Ronda De Hoop and her husband John.

Thank you to all employees for submitting your votes for the contest. Richardson Pioneer is proud to be a large contributor to the communities where our employees live and work across Canada.
