Gord began his career with Richardson Pioneer in 1983 at Imperial and has worked in several different positions at the location. In 2007, Rob started working as a summer student for Richardson Pioneer while attending the University of Saskatchewan. He moved to Winnipeg as a Zone Merchant in 2013 and joined the trucking team in 2015.

How would you describe your job?

I’m responsible for running the large crop inputs site and staying in touch with all the new products. I also work on our strong canola seed program and scout fields with producers throughout the growing season.  – Gord

I work with over 300 companies that move grain and products for all of our customers and locations across Western Canada, including our grain elevators and milling and oilseed processing facilities. I also work with our Merchandising department to work out costs and assist with sales. – Rob

What’s your favourite part of your job?

I’ve always enjoyed every part of my job, but if I had to choose one thing it would be the people. I know everyone always says this, but it’s true. I have met so many great people like producers, employees and other company representatives. – Gord

I love working with our Richardson locations and being able to assist them in their everyday work. I enjoy being close with our carriers and building relationships with them. It has also been a great experience working with HR to do a lot of our hiring for the transportation team. – Rob

Would you recommend a career in agriculture and with Richardson?

A career in agriculture in Western Canada is number one. If you enjoy people, change and challenges, it has them all. I find it so rewarding to help producers reach their goals. A career with Richardson gives you many different paths to take. – Gord

I started working with Richardson because of my father. After growing up seeing him work for the company, I knew that it was one I wanted

to continue with. A career in agriculture is opportunistic. As an employee you want to see your job making a difference, and in agriculture, through hard work and exposure, you get to see that end result. – Rob

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

My wife and I travel to Winnipeg many times during the year and Rob and I often play golf and fish together. My wife and I also love to camp. In the winter, we like to take a winter holiday ice fishing and curling. But my favourite thing to do is spend time with my kids and grandkids. – Gord

I enjoy spending time with my wife, Holly, who is pregnant with our first child due in April. We enjoy traveling together and recently moved to an acreage, which has consumed most of our time. I also enjoy playing every sport—except tall-people sports like volleyball and basketball! – Rob
