What is your favourite part of your job?

“It’s like solving a large puzzle. Being an accountant for such a dynamic and ever-growing business brings many great learning experiences and welcome challenges! I also love working with an upstanding group of talented people across Richardson’s network. It’s the team mentality of the people who work here that drive the business’ success.”

How is your job different from others at Richardson?

“What’s unique about my position is the responsibility and opportunity to work with so many teams to manage and consolidate financial statements for Richardson stakeholders. I’m connected to a network of teams, like taxation, corporate development, risk management, operations, the executive team, the board of directors and so many others.”

Why would you recommend a career in agriculture?

“Coming from a primarily financial background, it’s been great to gain so much knowledge in a short period about the complexities of the agriculture and food industry. There is still so much to learn!

It’s very rewarding to be involved with a business that connects local producers to export customers globally. With a growing population, food production and consumption has become an even larger global focus and learning about and contributing to the many innovations that offer and sustain a healthy food supply is one of the most appealing parts of joining the agriculture industry.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I travel the world with my fiancée and we’re gearing up for our upcoming wedding. I also enjoy spending quality time with our families and friends. To feed my passion for music and song writing, I’m also the lead guitarist for an indie rock band in Winnipeg called Deep Dark Cave.”

How did you get involved in music?Marc Jaworski3

“I started playing guitar after setting eyes on my friend’s bass when I was 13. Years later, one of my best friends and I formed a band, Floor Thirteen, around 20 years ago.

I had many incredible experiences with that band, including recording two albums, licensing songs to the video game company Electronic Arts to be in the games Need for Speed and The Sims, performing with Our Lady Peace at Bell MTS Place and touring across North America and England. We eventually parted ways, and I joined Deep Dark Cave with the vocalist of Floor Thirteen a couple of years ago.”

When can we check out some Deep Dark Cave shows?

“We’re playing Winnipeg’s Super-Spike volleyball tournament and festival on July 20. We’re also playing a new music festival in Kerry, MB called Hoot Owl on August 24.”
