The Work we Do

Image

Transportation

We provide transportation services for Canadian agricultural products such as grains, oilseeds, and pulses.

Processing

We clean and store grains and oilseeds – while adhering to strict food safety standards – to ensure the highest quality food product is delivered to end-use consumers.

Merchandising

We work closely with our nearby Boucherville, Quebec merchandising office to purchase grains and oilseeds from local farmers and find end-use buyers and consumers of these products.

Opening Global Markets to Local Producers

The success of Canada's agriculture industry relies on exporting its products to international destinations, and Richardson plays a pivotal role in facilitating this process. Through rail, truck, and vessel transportation, we ensure the efficient and consistent movement of grain for Quebec farmers throughout the year.

  • Richardson works with a network of over 600 Quebec farm operations that grow cereals, oilseeds, and corn.
  • Sorel-Tracy port terminal receives hundreds of inbound vessels annually, moving local product across the Great Lakes.
  • Over the past decade, 500+ vessels bound for international destinations were loaded out of the Sorel-Tracy port terminal.

The province’s agricultural sector is thriving, and Quebec farmers not only feed their communities but also contribute significantly to the global food supply. Richardson takes pride in collaborating with our farmer partners to move agricultural products worldwide.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

We understand the importance of striking the right balance between supporting economic growth and addressing the concerns of residents. We work closely with industry stakeholders to ensure that our activities are responsible and sustainable, and that we contribute positively to the communities around us.

We employ the following techniques to minimize operational impacts:

Image

Organic Material Suppression

When grain is transported to and from vessels, water is sprayed into the air close to loading zones. This creates mist and serves as a temporary barrier that helps to reduce agricultural particle migration.

Image

Enclosed Loading Systems

Our loading spouts are equipped with collection systems that capture agricultural particles as they are generated, preventing them from escaping into the environment.

Best Practices

We strive to explore and incorporate all best management practices to streamline the loading process and minimize agricultural particle emissions.
